About LUEUR

WE ROAr LOUD, REALLY LOUD

Formé en 2021, le quintet sélestadien LUEUR (ex-PUNKY TUNES) se fait rapidement connaître grâce à ses titres rapides, fun et énergiques, influencés par les scènes Skate-Punk et Hardcore (Nofx, The Interrupters, Pennywise, 7 Seconds, Sick Of It All, Kid Dynamite, Turnstile, Scowl).

« Stay united! »

Formed in 2021, Selestadian quintet LUEUR (ex-PUNKY TUNES) quickly made a name for themselves with their fast, fun and energetic songs, influenced by the skate punk and hardcore scenes (NOFX, The Interrupters, Pennywise, 7 Seconds, Sick Of It All, Kid Dynamite, Turnstile, Scowl).

In 2025, the band changed its name to LUEUR: a new direction, darker but still positive, more intense, hardcore and grunge, without denying the fun and unifying spirit of 90s punk rock. Same energy, same passion, with a positive attitude.

Composed of veterans from the HxC punk scene, with Laurent on guitar (Pitfall, Ahimsa, Bridewell Hospital, Epsilon, Secretos del Corazon, Sparkling Bombs), Matthieu on bass (Nonsense, Sparkling Bombs, The Moorings, The Manky Melters), Matthias on drums (Nonsense, Make it Worse) and from the new school with Loïc on guitar (Beer me Up) and Marie on vocals (Arbückle), the band is ready to share its energy on stage!

True to their « anti-fascist, pro-feminist, animal-friendly, LGBT+, earth protection and DIY » values, LUEUR has not forgotten the fun, essential to the spirit of 90s melodic punk rock, and defends a free, committed and festive punk.

Reviews

Maximum Rock’n’roll I’m nearly 40 and have listened to a lot of skate punk. It’s extremely formulaic, lots of hi-hat/snare doodle-bap, and typically singing about girls, booze, and boards. Not PUNKY TUNES. For me, they’re incredibly refreshing. This is the kind of punk that attracted me to the DIY umbrella long ago. First off, their singer Marie has a strong voice with a clear tone and excellent range. PUNKY TUNES is a five-piece from France, but they sing in English. They even have their own band theme song! Bands like the BOLLWEEVILS, GROOVIE GHOULIES, and the LILLINGTONS all have songs where they mention the band name in the song, some even spelling them out. PUNKY TUNES does this with the song “Punky Family,” but it doesn’t feel well-worn or tired. This group has a refreshing passion for making good music in a genre that has been trying to stay young and relevant since its beginning. PUNKY TUNES is checking a lot of boxes for me. They’re political on purpose, catchy, dynamic, talented, and it comes through their music that they really give a shit about what they preach. Their website proudly calls out their “anti-fascist, pro-feminist, animal-friendly, LBGT+, Earth protection, and DIY values.” By the way, their 7 SECONDS cover on this record is fabulous. I also highly recommend you listen to their RANCID cover of “Fall Back Down.” Honestly, everything I’ve heard from their catalog is a certified banger. www.maximumrocknroll.com/review/mrr-494/we-are-in-the-future-cd/
Girl at the Rock Shows I feel like the band name really describes what “Still Going Strong” is about. This song is, well, it’s “punky” so the band name Punky Tunes is truly perfect and sets the stage for this amazing and highly energetic track. “Still Going Strong” is the title track of Punky Tunes’ brand new EP. It hits quick and it hits hard. Think NOFX meets Interrupters with a little Anti-Flag angst and a little 7 Seconds old school sensibility. My favorite part of this track is how it feels so fresh and full of life but also has clear nods to the punk scene of years gone by and no shortage of angst. Instead of just being one of those punk songs that remains aggressive and in your face, I really like the dynamics and sense of restraint that Punk Tunes shows throughout this three minute and twenty-second song. “Still Going Strong” is absolutely a pump-up-jam kind of song so if you’re starting to lag today, this is the track for you. girlattherockshows.com/2024/06/11/punky-tunes-still-going-strong/
